Montessori children are often heard saying they love math, geometry, and language. This is not something you usually hear students say, and I wonder if it’s because children have choice and freedom to explore and respond in all subject areas in open-ended and creative ways. Sometimes they want to make the longest compound sentence of all time! Or the largest square root problem they can imagine, using material from other environments.
