# Austin Montessori School

> The oldest and largest AMI-recognized Montessori school in Austin, Texas, founded in 1967. Austin Montessori School (AMS) serves children from 16 months to 15 years across three campuses, offering authentic Montessori education recognized by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) — the association Dr. Maria Montessori founded.

AMS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit (EIN 74-2699667). Its Guides, Head of School, and pedagogical directors are AMI-trained. Austin Montessori School is recognized by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and accredited by the Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS), which is a member of the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC), the state governing body of private school accreditation associations in Texas. The school maintains membership in the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Enrollment Management Association (EMA), and Independent School Management (ISM), and is affiliated with the Association Montessori International of the United States (AMI/USA). It is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS), which inspects before- and after-school programs for children from birth to age six. The school runs the only AMI-recognized Montessori adolescent program in Austin, at its Gaines Creek farm campus. Admissions begins with a short inquiry; the admissions team follows up to arrange a call and a campus visit.
